The Christmas atmosphere invades the Hautes-Alpes with magical events, Christmas markets and unique meetings with local producers. Find here a selection (not exhaustive) of end-of-year activities in the Hautes-Alpes.

The Fest’hiver d’Embrun: A festive atmosphere in the heart of the city

Launch of the illuminations

On Saturday, December 7, Embrun lights up to launch the Christmas festivities. From 5:30 p.m., the city wakes up under hundreds of lights. On the program: face painting for children, Christmas carols with Stephan Orcière, a luminous parade with distribution of lanterns, followed by the launch of the illuminations by the Mayor. To perfect the atmosphere, mulled wine and hot chocolate will be offered by the town.

Little Christmas Train

From December 14 to January 4, head to Place Barthelon to board the Little Christmas Train, a colorful ride that will amaze children. Opening hours: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Prices: €2.50 per ride or €10 for 6 rides.

Embrun Christmas Market

The Christmas market will be held on Place Dosse from December 14 to 24, bringing together artisans, creators and producers. From 11am to 7pm (variable hours on certain days), explore the chalets offering jewelry, decorations, pastries, textiles and other gift ideas.

The producers’ market in Les Orres

On Fridays, from December 27 to March 7, from 10am to 6pm, the Place Haute des Orres hosts the producers’ market, a unique opportunity to meet local farmers and artisans. Between honey, gingerbread, jams, sausages, cheeses and many other delicacies, this market is a total immersion in the authentic flavors of the region.

The big Christmas market in Gap

The largest Christmas market in the Southern Alps brings together artists, artisans and traders who unveil their creations and culinary specialties. Les Féeries d’Hiver in Les Orres
